UTM Builder
Build clean tracking links with ready templates for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, email and print, and see which GA4 channel each one will land in.
How to Use the UTM Builder
- Pick a template, like Meta Ads or QR code.
- Paste your landing page URL and adjust the campaign name.
- Check the GA4 channel. If it says Unassigned, change the medium.
- Copy the full link, or just the parameters for your ad platform's URL field.
Why Consistent UTMs Matter
GA4 sorts visits into channels like Paid Social and Email using the source and medium on the link. A link tagged utm_medium=Facebook_Ads lands in Unassigned, and your ad spend looks like it produced nothing. We show the likely channel as you type so you can fix it before launch.
GA4 also treats capital letters as different values, so Facebook and facebook become 2 sources. Keep everything lowercase and pick 1 naming style for your whole team.
Dynamic Values Save Hours
Meta and TikTok can fill in the campaign, ad set and ad names for you on every click. Use the templates once in each ad's URL parameters field and every ad reports under its own name without you typing a single link.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need UTMs for Google Ads?
Not if auto-tagging is on and Google Ads is linked to GA4. Auto-tagging passes richer data than UTMs. Add UTMs only if you also report in another tool.
Which medium should I use for paid social?
Use paid_social or cpc with a social source like facebook, instagram or tiktok. GA4 reads both as Paid Social.
Can UTMs hurt SEO?
Not when used on ads, emails and print. Don't add them to links between your own pages, because they reset the visit's original source in analytics.
