Tracking and Measurement on TikTok
The TikTok Pixel, Events API, attribution and how to compare TikTok with your other channels fairly.

The Pixel and Events API
The TikTok Pixel is code on your website that reports visits and actions such as purchases. The Events API sends the same information from your server, which is more reliable when browsers block tracking. Using both, with matching event identifiers, gives TikTok the fullest picture and improves optimization.
Attribution
TikTok credits conversions that happen within a window after someone clicks or views an ad. Because many people see a TikTok, then search your brand on Google and buy, TikTok's reported results and Google's reported results can both claim the same sale. This is normal and it is why platform reports should never simply be added together.
A Fair Comparison
Compare channels on blended numbers: total marketing spend against total new customers or revenue. Watch for branded search growth and direct traffic rising after TikTok campaigns start, which is a common sign the platform is working even when its own report looks modest.
Post-Purchase Surveys
A one-question survey at checkout or after booking, asking how the customer heard about you, is a simple way to see TikTok's real contribution. Many brands find TikTok's self-reported share is far larger than its attributed share.
Putting This to Work
Judge TikTok on what happens to your whole business after it starts, not only on the number inside its dashboard.
In Practice
A supplement brand sees TikTok report 90 purchases and Google report 140 in the same month, while the store recorded 180 total. A checkout survey shows a third of buyers first heard of the brand on TikTok.
