Facebook Pages for Business
A Facebook Page is your business's home on Facebook. Pew Research Center's 2025 survey found 71% of U.S. adults use Facebook, and many check a business's Page for hours, reviews and photos before they call. A complete, well-secured Page also forms the base for Facebook and Instagram advertising.

Pages and Personal Profiles
A Page belongs to the business and is managed by people logged in through their own personal profiles. Running a business from a personal profile shuts you out of Page insights, the business inbox, the action button and advertising, and friend requests cap out at 5,000. Create a Page and keep the personal profile for personal use.
Setting Up the Page
- Name Use the business name customers know, with no extra keywords.
- Categories Choose up to three, starting with the most specific, such as Pediatric Dentist before Dentist.
- Bio One or two plain sentences saying what you do and where.
- Contact details Phone, email, website, address or service area, and hours. Match these exactly to your Google Business Profile and website.
- Profile picture Your logo or, for personal brands, a clear headshot. It appears small, so keep it simple.
- Cover photo or video Your work, your space or your team, with any text kept short.
- Username A short @handle that becomes your Page's web address.
- Action button The button under the cover image. Pick the one action you want most, such as Book Now, Call Now, Send Message or Get Quote.
Who Can Manage the Page
Pages use access levels in place of the older Admin, Editor and Moderator roles.
| Access level | What the person can do |
|---|---|
| Facebook access with full control | Everything, including settings, deleting the Page and adding or removing anyone, including you |
| Facebook access with partial control | Post, reply to messages and comments, run ads and see insights, without managing access or key settings |
| Task access | Work on chosen tasks, such as messages, ads or insights, through Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager only |
Give full control only to owners. Meta notes that at least one person must have full control, or the Page is deactivated and scheduled for deletion. Give staff, freelancers and agencies partial control or task access.
Owning the Page Through a Business Portfolio
Adding the Page to a business portfolio, formerly Business Manager, makes the business the owner of record. Agencies and contractors can then be added as partners and removed cleanly when work ends, without anyone handing over personal logins.
Recommendations and Reviews
Facebook's review system is called Recommendations. People say whether they recommend a business and can add text and photos. Reply to every recommendation, positive or negative, from Meta Business Suite. A short, calm reply to a complaint often reassures future customers more than the complaint worries them.
Meta Business Suite and Meta Verified
Meta Business Suite is the free desktop and mobile tool for managing a Facebook Page and Instagram account together: scheduling posts, answering messages and comments in one inbox and viewing insights. Meta Verified for businesses is a paid subscription offering a verified badge, account support and protection against impersonation. Weigh its cost against how often your business deals with impersonators or access problems.
In Practice
Consider a plumbing company whose Page was set up years ago by a former employee who still holds the only full control access. The owner adds the Page to the company's business portfolio, gives full control to two owners with two-factor authentication on, moves the office manager to partial control, removes the former employee and switches the action button to Call Now.
Page menus, access levels and features change often. Confirm details in the sources below before relying on them.
