Meta Ads Updates in 2026
Every Meta Ads change this year that affects how campaigns run, report or cost, with what to do about each.
In September 2026, Meta combined Creator Marketplace and the Partnership Ads Hub into one Creator Marketing Hub. If you run creator or partnership ads, check where your existing partnerships now sit. The more important change of the year for most accounts remains attribution: compare any results from before and after January 12 and March 2026 with care.

The Meta changes that matter most for business accounts in 2026 are about measurement and automation. Reported conversions changed twice because of attribution updates in January and March, Advantage+ became the default setup for new campaigns, and Ads Manager gained AI tools for analysis and a rating for how varied your creative is. If your results looked different this year without any change in sales, check the attribution entries first.

Creator Marketing Hub (September 15)
Meta merged Creator Marketplace and the Partnership Ads Hub into a single Creator Marketing Hub, putting creator discovery and partnership ad permissions in one place. Businesses running partnership ads with creators should confirm their existing permissions carried over.
Creative Diversity Rating (August 26)
Ads Manager began rating ad sets as Low, Medium or High on how varied their ads are. The rating reflects how Meta's delivery system now treats similar ads as close to the same ad. A Low rating usually means variations of one idea. Add genuinely different concepts, such as a customer story, a demonstration and an offer-led ad. Our guide to Meta Andromeda and creative variety explains why this matters.
Meta AI Account Analysis (August 20)
Advertisers can connect Meta AI to their ad accounts to analyze performance, suggest changes and produce reports. Treat its recommendations like any automated suggestion: check them against your own sales data before acting, especially suggestions to raise budgets.
Location Fees (July 1)
Meta began adding location fees of 2% to 5% to ads delivered in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and Türkiye. The fee applies based on where the ad is shown and appears on invoices, so U.S. businesses running ads only in the U.S. are not affected.
Meta AI Business Assistant (April)
Meta expanded access to its AI business assistant in Ads Manager and Business Suite, which answers questions about performance and helps troubleshoot account issues.
Attribution Reclassification (March)
Meta changed how it classifies conversions. Click-through attribution now counts only link clicks, and other interactions such as likes, comments and shares are reported as engage-through conversions with a one-day window. The threshold for an engaged video view was lowered. Accounts that used to see conversions credited to non-link interactions saw lower click-through numbers from March onward.
What to do. Annotate March in your reporting, compare periods using the same attribution setting and check results against your CRM or sales records.
Advantage+ by Default (February)
New sales, app and leads campaigns now start with Advantage+ automation for audience, placements and budget. Manual controls remain available, but changing certain settings turns off Advantage+ status. Our guide to Advantage+ campaigns covers when to keep the defaults.
View Attribution Windows Removed (January 12)
Meta stopped returning data for the 7-day view and 28-day view attribution windows, leaving 1-day view as the only view-through window (Meta for Developers). Accounts that reported with longer view windows saw reported conversions fall with no change in real sales. Our guide to Meta attribution in 2026 covers how to compare periods.
Changes Reported but Not Yet Confirmed
Industry reports in August 2026 said Meta plans to remove placement controls from ad sets in some campaign types. This page will add an entry once Meta confirms the change and its timing.
